Sauk Rapids Citizen of the Year 04-24-08

This annual award recognizes individuals who have given their time and talents to programs or projects that have a positive impact in the Sauk Rapids community. This year's recipient is Phil Pederson, a retired coach and teacher of 31 years of the Sauk Rapids-Rice School district.  He volunteers his time by helping with different church projects including the annual Living Nativity and the Annual Christmas Eve Worship Gathering.  Phil has provided financial assistance for children in need so they may go on mission trips, and is involved in the Benton County Fair and 4-H.  Phil currently runs the scoreboard for the Sauk Rapids-Rice boys and girls' basketball games, girl's volleyball and football games.  He works part-time at Czarnetzki's Hardware.  This award is made possible through the generous support of local civic organizations and businesses, the City of Sauk Rapids, Sauk Rapids-Rice Schools, and the Sauk Rapids Chamber.
