SUMMARY:Skills of Negotiating
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this course is to explore the major concepts and theories of negotiation\, as well as the dynamics of interpersonal and intergroup conflict and its resolution. This will involve studying the structural (eg. parties\, positions\, interests) and process (cognitive\, interactional) dynamics that are required for successful navigation of the negotiating process.\n\n\n\nIn addition\, students will develop practical skills applicable to a broad range of negotiating contexts. This involves training in identifying crucial elements of negotiation situations and implementing appropriate resolutions within a group demonstration.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes:\n\nBy the end of this course students will be able to:\n\n1. Define the stages and elements of the negotiation process\n\n2. Develop the skills and techniques of a successful negotiator\n\n3. Apply complex theory and practice of negotiation in particular and conflict resolution in general\;\n\n4. Identify the personal challenges in negotiation and conflict resolution\;\n\n5. Demonstrate how to positively interact with others\; to achieve desirable outcomes during the negotiation processes.\n\n\n\nThis course can be taken in person at SCTCC or remotely via Zoom.
