DESCRIPTION:The Government Affairs Division of the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce is comprised of business people and volunteers who have a passion for issues and activities at all levels of government.  Locally\, statewide\, and nationally\, they serve as advocates for all Chamber members.  Join us at our regular meetings on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. Topics are different each month.  Any Chamber member with interest in government is welcome to attend.  \n\n\n\nMEETING DETAILS \n\nSpeaker: Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Sarah Hennesy\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Justice Hennesy: \n\nSarah Hennesy\, a St. Cloud resident\, is the only State justice from Greater Minnesota. Appointed in May 2024\, she will share her experiences since joining the Minnesota Supreme Court and provide an update on the judiciary. Prior to her appointment\, Sarah served as the chief judge of the Seventh Judicial District\, chambered in St. Cloud. She has a diverse legal background\, having worked as an appellate public defender in Iowa\, a criminal defense attorney in Washington\, D.C. and Virginia\, and a staff attorney at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid in St. Cloud.\n\n \n\nIn addition to her judicial duties\, Justice Hennesy chairs the Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the General Rules of Practice. She is deeply engaged in her community\, regularly speaking at events hosted by the Minnesota Women Lawyers Association and other legal organizations\, volunteering as a judge and coach for mock trial teams\, and working with local schools to educate students about the judiciary.\n\n \n\nJustice Hennesy earned her B.A. from Central College and her J.D. from Drake Law School.\n\n\n\nNo fee to attend\, but registration is required as seating is limited!
